RULES
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. VIOLATION OF THE RULES MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION AND THE FORFEITURE OF FEES & WINES. (If you have any questions call the Competition office: 415-345-9000.)
1. Eligibility Requirements:
- Any commercial wine produced by a professional winery that complies with the classification codes.
- A copy of the completed entry form with the fees must be received at the Wine Competition office by May 28, 2010.(NOTE: Keep a copy of the completed entry form frds.)
- All wines or your recomust be received at the warehouse by May 28, 2010.
- The San Francisco Wine Competition is not responsible for customs duty charges.
- All entries from outside of the United States and not using an importer must fill out the Customs Broker Form (see the Downloads page). Please complete and fax in advance to:415-345-9090. We encourage consolidation shipments with other wineries in your area. Custom charges are almost the same for shipping one entry as several entries.
2. To enter your wines:
- FORMS AND FEES: The entry fee(s) is $75 per wine entry. By May 28, 2010, send a completed copy of the Entry Form (see the Downloads page) (make a copy for your records) along with your check or credit card to:

- WINES: Send five (5) 750 ml. bottles per wine entry and a duplicate of the entry form by
May 28, 2010, to:

Do not send entry fees with your wines. See above for mailing instructions concerning forms and fees.
3. Entry Qualifications:
- There is no limit to the number of entries per winery.
- There is no limit to the number of vintages of the same variety a winery may enter.
- No wine may be entered more than once by an entrant, even if it is marketed under different labels.
- A minimum of fifty 12 bottle-cases of each wine (except "library" entries) entered must be held for sale to the public, either at the winery or in normal distribution channels, during the last half of 2010.
4. Shipping:
- For shipments from outside the U.S., if you are not using your U.S. importer, you must contact our customs broker, SDV (USA), Inc., at usa.winedesk@sdvusa.com. To reduce customs charges, SDV will arrange for your shipment and may consolidate shipments with others in your area. The San Francisco International Wine Competition is not responsible for customs duty charges or fees.
- WINES MAY BE LEGALLY SHIPPED ANYWHERE WITHIN THE UNITED STATES. WRITE ON
THE BOXES: "SAMPLE MATERIALS. NOT FOR RESALE. GLASS ENCLOSED."
- For shipments of more than one box, indicate that the box is "Box 1 of 4", "Box 2 of 4", etc.
5. Basis of Judging:
- The judging will be by panels of qualified professional tasters.
- Where there are less than five entries per class, the Wine Competition reserves the right to re-group the entries. The Wine Competition reserves the right to reclassify an entry if it is entered into the incorrect class.
- Judging will be by vintage within each class.
- If the judges are faced with a seriously flawed bottle, one additional bottle will be judged.
- The San Francisco Wine Competition awards will be made on a merit basis. The judges will not grant awards when, in their opinion, no wines are worthy of an award.
